Small Projects

I know, I know, I'm actually blogging! My dad asked me the other day if I was ever going to post again. He keeps checking my blog and my bro's blog and neither of us have posted in forever. So here's to you dad :)

This post is mostly going to be about crafting stuff, which I've actually had time to do a couple things. What, what?! I made this cute little wipes case for a baby shower last week. Cute, right? I did one tester case for Olivia and then I made this one. All I did was buy a fat quarter (squares of fabric for quilting) and ribbon for the edges and I picked up this sparkly fleur di lis thing in the scrapbooking section.

Then one night when I couldn't sleep I was laying in bed at like 2 or 3 in the morning thinking of how I redo my bathrooms a little bit. My best ideas seem to come in the middle of the night, don't they for you? I had originally thought I'd put shelves in my half bath above the toilet for extra storage, but then after thinking about it it's really hard to do anything in there to begin with because it's so small. There isn't even an outlet to be able to get ready in there. So I scratched that idea and just went to putting in something pretty.
My inspiration/idea was this picture of a plate collection I had just pinned on Pinterest of all white plates, I began thinking "oh, go to goodwill and get some plates.." then I decided why not check what I have first. Good tip, btw.

So I went through my cabinets and all I did was use plates I already had. I know. The damask print ones are some of our everyday dishes, the flower plate was already hanging in the bathroom that I had gotten at Hobby Lobby for a $1 last year. And I had bought the purple Pottery Barn plate set at Goodwill a while back which I can't figure out if it's zebra stripe, peacock or woodgrain. So when I layed them out and kinda placed them I knew I needed one more squarish shape something, so I found the "g" plate at HL when I went to pick up the plate hangers. A half off coupon later. Oh and the little mirrors I had bought a while ago at a thrift shop and they were gold and I painted them with some leftover craft paint to go in the bathroom but never hung them so they were just sitting in a box.

For $5 on one plate plus hangers I think it looks pretty, ok, REALLY good. So look around your house and see what you have that wouldn't traditionally go on the wall and use it for art!

So in my other bathroom (sorry these are all phone pics so they're really bad) I'm needing to come up with a towel solution. As you can see I didn't even tidy up for you.
Here's the towel sitch: This is the only towel holder/place, and to get 2 towels to fit I have to fold them in thirds but folded like that they don't dry. Thus the haphazard mess. Plus now I have 2 more people taking baths that I would really like a place for their towels as well.
I bought a rack with 4 hooks on it but when I brought it home the towels would hang too low and touch the ground. The only other thought I had was to make my own rack with some vintage knobs like this but my question is, do you think the towels would fall off the knobs too easily? Any other suggestions? I am planning on hanging one robe hook on the wall between the shower and the window. The other side of the shower is a linen closet so there isn't any wall space over there either. Thoughts, suggestions?

Well that is all for today. I am planning on sharing my new ideas for Gwen's room maybe tomorrow or next week but let's be honest, who knows :)
But I do really want your feedback, I was going to post it on fb, but it was just too long.
