Gwen's Second Birthday!!
I had done so well not stressing over the party, got things done well ahead of time. I had everything done on Thursday and just had a couple of things to make on Saturday and go set up at the park. As many of you know there has been a severe drought here in Texas and we haven't had a drop of rain since May. So I knew I would be golden on having her party at the park. Ha- that's where God stepped in. Friday evening it starts raining everyone is rejoicing even I did because we needed it so badly and I figured it would rain for a few hours and end, like most rain storms so I didn't even worry about it. My alarm goes off Saturday morning and I look outside and it.is.still.raining. Really? No rain in 3 months but only today. I'm like ok, it's fine, maybe it'll stop here soon. I continue on my way to get ready for the party-still raining. Dan gets up and is asking me if I have a plan B, uh no!
It's then time for me to pick up the cupcakes, head to Sams, get there and my order is no where. Uh huh. Yes, Lord? What have you been teaching me about being flexible and letting go? When it rains, it pours. Haha, yes I did. :) So anyways they whipped me up some cupcakes while I waited, all the while staying calm. Those of you that know me well at all- I know you are not even recognizing this person I'm describing. Because I tell you, 6 months, a year ago, I would have been a mess. I would crying hyperventilating, completely hysterical. I don't do "spur of the moment", "last minute", "spontaneous".
On my way home I stopped and checked at Chickfila to see if they'd let me have the party there but I wasn't going to be able to have the party until 4 and the party was scheduled at 10. I get home at 9 (only dressed mind you, no makeup, hair, nothing) and it's still raining and I said "Dan- what should we do?" People are blowing up our phones wondering where to go. Then I was like, ok we'll just have it here. AGH!!! Just to give you an idea we live in a very "cozy" home, and we had roughly 35 people RSVP'd. Ya.
Dan was amazing, I was amazing for staying cool and we ran around making beds, wiping down bathrooms, setting up the entire party and getting the birthday girl out of her pajamas in a matter of minutes.
Needless to say it was a mad house over here and anyone who attended can testify to that, but it turned out great. I didn't get near the pictures I wanted to. My camera wouldn't focus very well, the battery died while singing "happy birthday". You get it. Wasn't smooth sailing. So here are a few that I did get. I'll post more another day when I'll do some posts on some of the different projects and things I did for the party.

The Spread
I tried to be a little cute with the monkey theme and made Monkey Bread, served Twizzlers as "Monkey Vines" and had bananas. Turned out great.
Cake Time
She was a little reserved. :) I think she was wondering why she was eating a cupcake at 10:30 in the morning.
Presents
She definitely got showered with gifts from all our very generous friends and family. She is for sure good on toys for a while!
So...what's next guys? She did amazing, had a great time. Covered in strawberry juice, kids to play with and gifts to open- doesn't get much better than that! By the end of the party she was tuckered out. I had to run an errand (pick up an amazing deal from cl- I'll tell you about it later) so after wards Dan changed her diaper and set her down and she just climbed in her bed pulled up the covers and rolled over and took a nap. What a sweetie :) Can't believe my girl is 2! The time has just flown by.
