Quick Wall Art....That's Free!
I don't know if any of you are like me, but your personal style has changed in your house over the years. So you have all that stuff that's good, but you don't want to give away even though you've it taken down because it doesn't really go with what you've got going on.
So I opened my coat closet and I saw these pictures sitting on the top shelf that I had taken down awhile ago but I had just had my garage sale and excuses, excuses. It gave me a reason to do a project. :)
On pinterest I have a pin that's a menu board that used an old picture frame with scrapbook paper and you write on the glass with dry erase markers. But since I don't have any available wall space in the kitchen and I don't cook often enough to have a menu ::eek:: I thought I'd just make it art, or I could write a note, a verse or a to do list if I want.
I started by cutting out the paper from the back of the picture and pulling out the mat board from inside. (Sorry, it's posting this pic sideways and I don't know how to fix that.)
I left the glass inside because it was too tight of a fit to get it out. So I'd need to cover the glass and since I didn't have scrap paper or anything to cover it, you know the bajillion credit card applications you get? Yeah, I used those. Reduce.Reuse.Recycle. :)
Then after I got them all taped off I took them outside and put them on the only thing useful I do with my neighborhood newspaper. I know, you're impressed with how resourceful I am!
Then I just cover them with a couple coats of white spray paint, then impatiently wait for them to dry.
After they dry comes the hardest part- figuring out what you're going to put in them. I made it way too hard picking out what scrapbook paper I was going to put in. geez. I wanted to put in some sort of quote or verse but again, couldn't make up my mind. The nice thing is I can do it whenever or change the paper to use in a different room.
Frames: $0, Leftover Paint: $0, Scrap Paper: $0 = Budget friendly, cute and versatile.
Go check your closets and your garages for some old frames! Or shoot, my favorite place for frames- Goodwill. You can't beat $.50-$1!
