$10 Door Makeover
I guess it was something about the weather being cooler and an apparent strange boost in energy yesterday that I felt really antsy to work on a project.
Earlier in the summer I had bought a sample quart of this color Urbane Bronze that I was thinking about painting my closet doors in my bedroom if you remember back when I had a "master redo" on the brain.
Isn't it pretty? Ahh, anyway.
So spur of the moment I went ahead and started painting our closet doors. No, I didn't tell my husband because when you're married to a professional and a perfectionist things get 100% more complicated. ;) If he's not there seeing my unorthodox ways, the better.
Good, right? I LOVE them. It adds so much richness.
It took 2 coats. I didn't prime, sand or anything. Like I said, I'm the "unprofessional". This is after the first coat dried. I also knew I wanted to change the knobs so I didn't bother painting them and was nice because I could still open and close the doors.
That brings this whole makeover for about $10. The sample quart was around $6 and $4 in knobs. Made me really want to start on my next project...

While the doors were drying I ran across the street to my favorite antique mall to hopefully buy some knobs or pulls from this guys' amazing booth I have written about before.
After consulting about the going prices for cabinet pulls with my all knowing home improvement guru, the husband. I knew I didn't really want to pay over $3 since the average is about $2.50.
Just so happens the owner is there and helps me pick out knobs. I told him I knew I wanted a gold/brass knob with some patina. (well I REALLY wanted these amazing lion head pulls but they were $10 each) So he suggested some to me but they were just too bright for what I wanted so he scuffed them up for me, let me choose exactly which ones I wanted. All for a $1 a piece.

I dunno how you do it, Sarah! I wish I had your talent!
