Living Room Remodel pt. 3

Whew, you know how the days just get away from you? I have quite a few things I need to post about but it's finding the time to post! I don't want to be that person that bribes their kid with Blue's Clues to write a post I need to save those cards for other things I want to get done. :) Just kidding. Kind of. I must admit though, a shout out to King George and the Ducky for this post getting written. Oh well.
This is pretty much the final post on the living room for a while. But here are some of the pictures from Dan patching, mudding and texturing the walls.
This is one of the patches on the hallway and pantry wall.
I'll explain this one a little bit. There were 2 doorways here. The eventual plan is to make a "family room" of sorts from the 2 rooms. The one on the left that is patched up used to be the entrance to my laundry room, the one that is still there leads into the back of our garage. We have a single car garage that neither of our cars would fit in. A year ago Dan and I framed up the garage into 2 sections, one section to store tools and everything you would keep in your garage with entry from the garage door. The back half we left to eventually make into more living space. The back half of the garage shared a wall with the laundry room and we had torn apart our laundry room to make a repair so we decided to take out the wall between the 2 rooms and put in a laundry closet and have a craft/office/den area. Anyways, so that is our next project and the living room is pretty much finished until we can remodel that room. If you can't tell our house is in a continual state of shuffle.

Then we got our "Dexter" on to texture.
Yes, the dog wasn't exactly sure what to do or what was going on :) And surprisingly, Gwen slept through the whole thing. So before you skip ahead to the finished pictures I didn't get any pictures of Dan painting because I was working on the pantry at the same time and it kind of all slipped my mind. But he textured and the next night he painted so I was under the gun to pick out a color. I had totally had my mind made up for months on what color I wanted and thank heavens I got a sample. I put it on the wall and....it was purple. No bueno. Especially since our bathroom is already purple. The next morning I ran to get a sample of "Software"- it was basically the same color minus the purple. I thought I would love it and I was talking to Dan on the phone right before he left work to pick up the paint and we both decided to go a shade darker. :) With the wall gone we have a lot more natural light coming in so I figured it would be fine during the day and it would be cozy at night.

Now, it's not finished. We still need to finish the trim and we need to purchase a door which we just have covered with a sheet right now. The piano is going in the new room and that's going to be our dining space. But it's so nice. The first night I was able to make dinner and watch Dan and Gwen playing in the living room.

Don't you?
