Off we go...

Today we are off to our first ever family vacation. Much needed and I am SO excited. We are going to Great Wolf Lodge about 40 minutes from our house.

And boy, did we earn it. Before you all think we went off and won the lottery, we did "earn" this free stay. We sat through an entire day of timeshare presentations last year. ::insert groan::

So the dreaded swimsuit shopping is done and we're off to go ride some rides.

This morning in my devotions it was so fitting, it was called Numbered Grace. Referring to our days being numbered and the thankfulness we should have for every moment.

Which I struggle with because I like change and I'm always one to hurry to get to the next stage. Especially when it comes to my kids. "Can we just hurry through this because this is definitely not my favorite age." The learning to feed themselves stage where I'm cleaning caked oatmeal off of everything. Or the bossy, I know best, stage. Can you just hurry and grow up and make it easier on me? Yea. It sounds awful when I say it out loud.

I am going to make the conscious effort especially this time while we're away, to be IN the moment. To recognize, to be aware and to be thankful for every moment. The moments of curiosity and wonder (when they're running off and I'm gracefully chasing them through the hotel), their adventurous spirit (wanting to do everything themselves) and their innocence (the little time they still think their dad and I are cool and want to be with us.)

Here's to me letting go....
I hope to take many pictures and make many memories the next couple days. Among them, my gal and I plan to get "Mom and Me" pedis. And you better believe I'm getting a tiara too! Swimming, napping, shutting out the world, having fun and just being a family.

Have a great weekend!
